Day 01 – Depart from Home

Day 2: Addis Ababa
Arrive at the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa at 12:30 a.m. Transfer to hotel, and spend the remainder of the night. Take breakfast at around 8 am and begin sightseeing. Drive to Mount Entoto (3,200 meters) the highest point bordering Addis Ababa to get the glimpse of Addis Ababa’s the panoramic view. Then Descend back to the National Museum, where you can get a highlight of Ethiopia’s past and present. The National Museums is packed with up to 5 million years of uninterrupted archaeological and palaeontological evidences all unearthed in Ethiopia - the most renowned of all being “Lucy”, the 3.2 million years old most popular, skeletal remain of our great female ancestor. Lucy was discovered in Afar Region, at a place called Hadar in 1974. Then walk to the Trinity Cathedral Church known for its rare stained-glass window art and breath-taking ceiling frescos all done by an Ethiopian world Laurette artist. The church is the second most sacred place in Ethiopian orthodox religion and also houses the giant granite tomb of Emperor Haile Selassie, built during the WWII commissioned by the emperor himself. Then proceed to the remarkable Ethnographic Museum, which expertly displays Ethiopia’s Ethnographic treasures, artistic heritages and cultural values in its three storied building. The compound current Addis Ababa University where the museum is located used to be Emperor Haile Selassie’s palace until the emperor handed it over in 1960. After a lunch break drive to” Merkato”, the biggest open-air market in East Africa. Established during the brief Italian occupation around 1937. Merkato is a site to behold that gives you a real taste of life in Addis. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Addis Ababa - ArbaMinch
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and board on an hour-long flight to ArbaMinch. Upon arrival meet the trip’s drivers and Excellent condition 4x4 Landcruiser vehicle. Head on a short drive to the mountainous Dorze people’s village. The Dorzes are famous for their unique house building tradition which appears to mimic an elephant's head. A heritage of the past embodied in present day architecture. These amazing buildings, made of bamboo poles and false banana leaves can reach up to 15 meters in height and are exceptionally durable. The village is very colourful, you can buy clay vessels, expertly woven cotton fabrics, and briefly take part in their interesting daily lives and savour an unforgettable experience. Drive back to the hotel in Arbaminch and check in to the hotel. Later in the afternoon make a boat trip on “Lake Chamo”, one of the seven rift valley lakes and the most engrossing one. The trip takes you to the “crocodile market” where one can watch one of the largest Nile crocodiles, hippos and various species of birds (pelicans, herons, eagles) during the cruise. Day 4: Arba Minch – Turmi
Drive towards the town of Turmi with a brief stop at Konso. Composed of 9 subclans, the Konso have their own language. The konso’s preserved an impressive socio-cultural structure, calendar system, an age-old governance system, with which they govern their walled villages and a king to whom they abide by. UNESCO recognised konso’s over 800 years old terracing cultivation as a world heritage site. colourful costumes and picturesque agricultural fields littered with a wild Moringa trees puts the Konso people among the most amazing ethnic wonders of the Omo valley. After the brief stop, proceed to Turmi on the way visit the Market of Bana and Hammer people at the place called “Alduba”. Accommodation at the lodge in Turmi.

Day 5: Turmi - Omorate – Tumi
After breakfast, an hour drive to Omorate, a border town situated on the banks of the mighty Omo River, right before Omo enters the largest African lake – lake Turkan in Kenya. The main inhabitants of Omorate are the Dassenech tribe who reside mainly across the omo river. Crossing in dugout canoes to the other side of the river, to see the village of the Dasenech is one of the highlights of this trip. Return to Turmi. Late in the afternoon visit the Hammer village and encounter their colourful traditional dancing. Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay at the lodge in Turmi.

Day 6: Turmi - Key Afar - Jinka
After breakfast, drive for Jinka with a market stop at the most colourful Key-Afer tribal market. The key-Afer market is a weekly meeting place for three Omo valley tribes. Namely, the Ari, the Bana and the Tsemay tribes. This is not an ordinary market. It’s a tribal wonder with lots of genuine cultural displays. After enjoying the colorful Key-Afer, proceed to Jinka town and check in to the hotel. Late in the afternoon, visit of the nearby Ari people’s village and an Ethnographic Museum, which was setup by a respected German ethnologist Ivo Strecker, who studied the lives of the omo valley ethnic groups since the 1970’s until his retirement in 2005. Accommodation, dinner overnight in Hotel in Jinka.

Day 7: Jinka – Mursi - Addis Ababa
After breakfast, drive to the village of the Mursi’s crossing through Mago National Park. The Mursi are the most distinguishable tribe inhabiting the Omo valley. Their women with a lip plate have been widely publicised. When Mursi women reach the age of adulthood, their lower lip is cut and a clay or, less often, wooden disc is placed in it. Even though the reason as to why they started this tradition is a matter of debate to this day, the Mursi still practice it widely. As The lower lip stretches, the discs are continually replaced by larger ones. The most lip plates can reach to an impressive 35 cm in diameter. Mursi Men often decoratively paint their bodies, and often cover their faces in white patterns. After a visit to Mursi tribe, fly back to Addis Ababa in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Addis Ababa.

Day 8: Addis Abeba - Semera - Dallol - Hamed Ela
After breakfast transfer to the airport and board an ET110 flight from Addis Ababa to Semera - the capital of the Afar region. Upon arrival, you’ll meet with the team responsible for The Danakil Depression expedition. After a quick coffee stop, continue the journey to Hamed Ela. There will be a break at “Afdera” before the drive resumes destined for Dallol. The third lowest-lying place on earth situated over 120 meters below sea level. The Danakil Depression is the hottest place on average recorded temperatures, but it’s a place where one can feel the coolest of emotions when visiting otherworldly spots like Dallol and Ertale. In the evening, enjoy an unforgettable sunset over the distant Salt Lake. For those who dare, will have another brief swimming option. After the sunset trip to the Salt Lake, return to Hamed Ela, take dinner and spend overnight camping.

Day 9: Hamed Ela - Dallol - Lake Assale - Erta Ale
An early breakfast and drive to Dallol. On the way you will encounter the most stunning sunrise as hundreds of camel caravans enter the traditional salt mine at Lake Assal. You continue the drive towards Dallol the 3rd lowest point on earth where one can see Mars like land formations, solidified potassium and sculptures, colourful hot springs all results of visit the different landscapes formed by volcanic activity; Dallol + Lake Assal + salt canon, camel caravans, follow up camel caravans, and drive to Erta Ale.
It is a permanent lava volcano with a diameter at the base of 30 km, the caldera has the shape of a square with sides of 1 km. Picnic meal along the route or at a local restaurant. When the sun begins to set and the temperature drops slightly, the climb to the volcano will begin. It is not a difficult route, but it is quite exhausting due to the heat. We will spend the night on the edge of the volcano, the necessary equipment, food and water will be transported on the backs of camels. Dinner and overnight stay in Erta Ale (camping).

Day 10: Erta Ale – Afdera – Semera
Early in the morning we will go for a walk along the volcano's ridge, then we will go back down to the parking lot. After breakfast at the foot of Erta Ale, we will go to Lake Afdera. Possibility to swim in the salty waters of Lake Afdera. In the afternoon, drive to Semera for overnight stay Semera. Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 11: Semera - Lalibela
After breakfast, drive from Semera to Lalibelia. En route enjoy the scenic drive and wonder the diverse geographical landscapes throughout. Lalibela considered the eighth wonder of the world (UNESCO list). This is the most important point on the Ethiopian historical route, the place where a 12th century “King Lalibela” masterminded the building of 11 rock-hewn churches to be carved out of volcanic tufa rock. Thousands of workers worked on it for 23 years. As the legend has it during the day thousands of workers engage in the building, and angels helped at night. When you see them, you start to believe this! For Ethiopians, Lalibela is also the New Jerusalem with all the symbolism of the Holy Land. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 12: Lalibela sightseeing
Breakfast. In the morning visit the first group church. Under the rule of King Lalibela (12th century) are 11 churches carved out in the rocks and partly underground, connected by narrow footpath and stairs. The churches were carved in such a way that their roofs are flush with the ground surface. These churches are still in use and have a medieval mystical atmosphere. So, take time, not only see but also to breathe in this atmosphere.
Visiting the most beautiful churches. Church of St. George has the shape of a Greek cross. Bete Medahne Alem is the largest monolithic church on the planet. After lunch you’ll will drive to Yemrehane Kirstos 42 km(2hour) visit the marble churches called Yimrhanne kirstos, which predates the Lalibela churches and was built using a completely different style of construction involving marble and wood. The church is built inside a cave. Pass through different villages and learn about local crops on different plateaus, specular view till your reach the church. Return to Lalibela let in the afternoon for a dinner. Overnight in Lalibela

Day 13: Lalibela
Breakfast. Take a morning hike with mules (or drive) to Mount Asheton, with its 11th century rock-hewn monastery and great views of the town. Return to Lalibela. After having lunch continue with the 2nd group of Lalibela rock hewn churches.
Likely you’ll visit the open market of Lalibela, after which you will experience Ethiopian hospitality, at a traditional coffee ceremony.

Day 14: Lalibela - Gondar (UNESCO list)
Breakfast. Transfer to Gondar along an extremely picturesque road through the mountains. The recently completed road is still not very frequented by tourists. Thanks to this, meetings with Ethiopians living there are delightfully authentic. A stop at a rock outlier called Amba is a very characteristic element of the Ethiopian landscape. The road leads through the 13th-century town of Debre Tabor, which served as the capital in the 19th century. Accommodation, dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Gondar.

Day 15: Semien Mountains (UNESCO list)
Breakfast. Transfer to Semien National Park, included in the UNESCO natural heritage list. An incredibly picturesque mountain range, full of canyons dominated by the peaks of extinct volcanoes, is called the Roof of the Dark Continent. The day will be filled with easy, but incredibly attractive trekking. Breath-taking views and dozens of geladas - the only grass-eating monkeys in the world - await us. The animals are not aggressive, they allow you to get close to them and take photos. Stop in the village of "Black Jews - Falasha. Return to the hotel in Gondar, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 16: Gondar - Bahir Dar
After breakfast, visit the 17th century capital of Ethiopia. Gondar was founded by King Fasiledas in 1636, his palace has survived to this day. This is a building that cannot be found in any other African country. After visiting the castle and monastery of Debre Berhan Selassie, known for its wonderful paintings and frescoes, as well as the baths of King Fassiledes, drive to Bahir Dar (180 km). Diner and overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 17: Bahir Dar
Breakfast. Full day boat cruise on the largest Ethiopian lake, Tana, to the monasteries located on the islands. Diner and overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 18: Bahir Dar - Addis Ababa
After breakfast, trip to the waterfalls on the Blue Nile (30 km from Bahir Dar).
Transfer to the airport and flight to Addis Ababa (flight lasts one hour). In the evening, a farewell dinner with traditional music and a dance show in a typical Ethiopian restaurant. Transfer to the airport. End of service

Day 19: Addis Ababa
At 2.00 A.M. fly back home.
